Award-Winning Resident Chef
Kaitahi is home to award-winning chef Ryan, who brings more than 20 years of
culinary experience to the table. He owned and operated Table 188 in the heart of
Palmerston North for 13 years, earning a reputation for creativity and excellence. At
Kaitahi, Ryan showcases the very best of the Manawatū, blending his passion for
local ingredients with a love of refined, seasonal dining.
Dining at Kaitahi is more than a meal; it’s a culinary journey rooted in connection to
the region, the land, and the seasons. The Chef’s Table experience is thoughtfully
curated by Ryan, who sources seasonal produce and ingredients to offer a true taste
of the Manawatū. Beef appears often, kaimoana is a favourite, and much of the
produce is grown on-site. When needed, Ryan and Jazz happily lean on their mums
and their abundant veggie gardens just down the road.
The open-plan kitchen invites guests to engage or simply observe as the meal comes to life. Seats are limited; guests can book a stay, reserve the venue, or join the waitlist for upcoming dining experiences. We hands down had the most amazing two night stay at this beautiful lodge . Jazz and Ryan have absolutely thought of everything in creating a truly amazing experience. The location and accommodation is just stunning . The breakfasts delivered right to our door were just so delicious and so beautifully presented . Dinner was next level mouth watering and the personal service right down to Ryan explaining his creations as he and Jazz serve you is outstanding and a super special experience. Both Jazz and Ryan are awesome hosts , the nicest welcoming , talented people 🙂
We will most definitely be back again . Thank you so much for making our anniversary so memorable and special .
